Artificial Intelligence in Business Legal and Practical Challenges in the Use of AI
On Thursday, January 22, 2026, our colleague Niko Schneider had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion hosted by the Reutlingen Adult Education Center (VHS) on the topic of “AI in the Workplace.” Before an interested audience of students, business owners, and other interested parties, he spoke alongside Greta von Au, Community Manager of the AI Alliance Baden-Württemberg, and Daniel Rabe from the “Team Transformation” at IG Metall about how and for what purposes AI can be used in everyday business operations. The discussion covered not only the diverse applications of AI but also how it can be implemented in practice and which legal frameworks must be observed both during implementation and during the operation of AI.
A particular focus of the discussion was on the provisions of the so-called AI Regulation, which sets forth specific requirements for so-called “high-risk AI systems.” Here, our colleague Niko Schneider was able to provide valuable insights with his expertise in IT and data protection law. Among other things, he addressed the legal requirements that users of such AI must observe when deploying it, as well as the legal pitfalls that both AI developers and users face when dealing with the output of this AI.
The discussion was rounded out by the thoroughly engaging and insightful questions from the audience.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks—also on behalf of our colleague Schneider—to VHS Reutlingen as well as to all participants in the panel discussion for the insightful exchange.
