61st BWKG Nursing Symposium Focus on Digitalization and Long-Term Care Policy

On March 19, 2026, the 61st BWKG Nursing Symposium will take place as a hybrid event at the Sparkassenakademie Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart and online. This established professional event is aimed at executives and managers of inpatient care facilities and offers in-depth insights into current political, legal, and practical developments in elder care.

A key focus of the program is the federal government’s care policy. Dr. Martin Schölkopf (Federal Ministry of Health) will provide an overview of which reforms have already been implemented and which challenges still lie ahead.

Another key program item is the legal framework for digitalization in care.
Dr. Gerrit Hötzel, attorney and specialist in copyright and media law as well as information technology law at VOELKER & Partner, will examine the legal requirements and opportunities of digital applications in care facilities. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Digital care documentation

  • Use of care robotics

  • Requirements under the NIS 2 Directive

  • Legal aspects of the electronic patient record (ePA)

In the afternoon, the BWKG will present several sessions on other current developments, including nursing rate negotiations, reforms in nursing home regulations, training for nursing assistants, and new recommendations for infection prevention.

Regardless of the format of participation, the BWKG symposium offers a valuable platform for updating knowledge, legal guidance, and professional exchange.
