BKSB Symposium on Digital Issues in Nursing Legal Challenges of Digitalization in Long-Term Care
Digitalization is fundamentally transforming the healthcare industry—and with it, the legal framework. This makes professional dialogue on current developments and practical solutions all the more important.
We are pleased to announce that our colleague, attorney Dr. Gerrit Hötzel, will be speaking at the BKSB symposium “Digital Issues in Care” on October 5, 2026. The online symposium, organized by the Federal Association of Municipal Senior Citizens’ and Disability Facilities (BKSB), will focus on the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in the care sector.
Focus on Legal Aspects of Digitalization
Immediately following the opening of the event, Dr. Gerrit Hötzel will deliver a presentation titled “The Law of Digitalization in Long-Term Care.” In his talk, he will examine the legal requirements and issues that long-term care facilities must consider when implementing digital solutions—ranging from data protection and liability issues to the legal framework governing modern care processes.
Interdisciplinary Exchange
In addition to the legal perspective on digitization, the program features other forward-looking topics, including the further development of telematics infrastructure (ePA, KIM), the use of artificial intelligence in long-term care, and best-practice examples from municipal long-term care facilities. The event thus offers a valuable platform for exchange between practitioners, academics, and legal experts.
We look forward to engaging discussions and exchanging ideas with the participants of the BKSB symposium.
